In the market of metal wire / bar, as far as the cross-section (profile) of metal material is concerned, it is usually limited to round or simple shapes such as square, hexagon, and flat. However, more complicated shapes are always required in actual industrial application, because the design of component parts tends to be more high-precision, lighter, smaller, and more delicate. These varieties of profile metal wire / bar are made for special industrial applications, and we refer to them as "Metal Shaped Wire / Bar" except round.

Metal shaped wires / bars (also known as solid profiles) are wires / bars with cross-sections (profile) that are manufactured specifically to the users' required shapes. Commonly round, these materials can be formed into many different shapes, from the simple squares, rectangles and hexagons to highly complex and non-symmetrical shapes according to users'needs.

Profile Steels Bar Manufacture Pvt. Ltd. uses special cassette roller dies to form required metal material taking advantage of metal plasticity at normal temperature. Satisfactory processing achieves an accurate shape, a smooth clean surface, and consistent measurement.

In order to get a required special shape, one traditional method is cutting the raw material to form a desired shaped. However, it usually takes a long time to repeat the processing. Labor costs and loss of material go higher for more complicated shapes. In addition, for the cutting method to form a shape, it is difficult to control cleanness and smoothness of the surface and precision of dimensions. In this case, using metal shaped wires and bars is a great solution.

Examples & Applications   

Our main processing methods are cold plastic deformation processing including cold-rolling and cold-drawing, and heat treatment as well. "Cold" means working at normal temperature, comparing with "hot" working when material is heated.

To take advantage of metal plasticity at normal temperature, we apply the adjoining sets of specially made roller dies to have metal material changed in its form. We use cold drawn finished round wires as raw material and we make the material go through our roller dies to roll and draw them so that we can form the materials into required shapes and sizes at normal temperature.

With regards to heat treatment, metals which have gone through cold plastic deformation processing will have their crystalline structure changed and hence get harder in quality, which creates difficulty to our further processing. Thus, for the purpose of having follow-up processing and adjusting the hardness of material , it is necessary to recover the normal structure by heat treatment.

During our production, combining cold-rolling, cold-drawing and heat treatment process in different numbers of times each according to the complexity of required shaped, we can form the shaped wires and bars step by step.
